Driving down hilly roads, watching rooftops dressed in leaves,
I hear your voice sing a song that I once knew.
The days of rain and hope, of painted fingers,
sips of tea between the plunks of a six-string.

The rain began to fall and I heard it once again,
the subtle hello to an old friend.
A memory that you love, a prayer, a truth,
when nothing matters but that very moment.

We held our wishes in the palms.
We freed our hearts with light and songs
and told our secrets to the moon.
We’d sit and sing the day away
while upstairs the children played.
But we had our playtime too.

Passing the dancing leaves, the forest stays in tune.
Your voice transcends the miles between us.
The days of seashore dreams, laughter, skipping stones,
folklore fires and a penny whistle.

We painted music in the stars.
We planted seeds of hope and flowers
and watched the thyme and friendship grow.
Raindrops kissed the wind swept lane,

And our laughter danced on strings.
