A child asks why.. does a star have to fall
Where does all that light go
Can we bring it home and keep it in a jar
And know what heaven knows

Summer moves to autumn’s tune and
winter’s gloom is but a breath away
The naked trees and little birds that sing so sweet
Of springtime dreams and things that pass away

Tell us sometimes smiles turn to frowns and
often times we’ve broken down
but something greater lives beyond those stars
It’s small, quiet and powerful. It brings us closer than before
Far beyond life’s ashes tears and smoke
There is always hope.

Why would they burn a home
Do they think it’s fun to watch another suffer
Where do all those tears run

Tis but a week or maybe two, engulfed in flames
Our little place of hope and faith burned through
And families, four, that lived next door
Lost their dreams, their good tidings, but something rang out true

Many times we’ve broken down
But something greater lives beyond those walls
